Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones
| Overall rating: |

The headphones that pioneered an industry are now even better.
QuietComfort 15 headphones feature exclusive Bose advancements in noise reduction technology. You hear less noise than ever before, and even more of your music and movies–with the quality sound you expect from Bose. And their lightweight fit stays comfortable for hours. It’s a combination of benefits unmatched in the industry.
Quieter than ever before
Bose was the first to introduce noise cancelling headphones over 20 years ago, for use specifically on airplanes. And the company has continuously improved the technology since then.
QC®15 headphones significantly reduce even more noise across the full spectrum of human hearing. Advanced electronics now use microphones both inside and outside each earcup to sense and reduce more of the sounds around you. The headphones also feature improvements to proprietary Bose ear cushion technology, further reducing unwanted noise. New cushion materials now block more noise before it enters the earcups, delivering an even quieter listening experience and a comfortable fit.
Concert hall sound–or peaceful sanctuary
QC15 headphones also have proprietary signal processing and audio reproduction technology for quality sound–including deep low notes–from small, lightweight earcups. You enjoy well-balanced and detailed audio, all made clearer by advanced noise reduction.
Even when not listening to music, you can use these headphones to quickly leave the noise behind–and relax.
For travel, work and home
When you fly with QC15 headphones, engine roar fades even further away. When you listen at home or at work, fewer distractions get in the way. When you’re on the move, an optional mobile kit lets you use these headphones with a cell phone, too.

Finally Bought These After Trying Cheaper Ones
After more than three years of wanting these headphones and trying two different brands I decided to spend the money on the Bose phones. I tried my husband’s JVC headphones and purchased a cheap pair of Ableplanet headphones from Costco but neither come close to the quality of sound canceling and sound quality of these headphones. I travel 3-4 times a year but most of the time I use them at work to block out the background hum of multiple lab instruments (loud fans, compressors, computer fans, etc) or chatty co-workers from several cubes away when I’m in the office area. The headphones don’t get rid of conversation from the most pervasive talkers (you’ll have to deal with them some other way) but it’s incredible how much ambient and background noise they do eliminate compared to my other headphones. FYI, I like how these use one AAA battery and how comfortable they are to wear. The fit is incredible. Before this purchase I considered the Dr. Dre Studio Beats but decided on the Bose based on sound canceling ability as that was the most important attribute to me. My next purchase will be a mobile kit so that I can make calls on my iPhone with these phones on. Pricey purchase but worth it!
there is no substitute!
There is no substitute for these headphones. If you can afford them get them, if not then save up til you can. They are pricey but great headphones. I had the QC2’s and these are better. Hopefully they will last longer. My QC2’s broke after about 5 years. The headpiece cracked on both sides. I hear this is common. The noise canceling and sound quality are great, they are comfortable and not too big.
The best noice cancelling headphones
I’ve been searching for a while some noise cancelling headphones, but, not in the price range Bose asks. I was reluctant to buy these because of the high price tag.
I went for a 50-bucks Sony that claimed to have almost the same effect (98,5% cancelling). It was better than nothing though…
So I saved some bucks and finally bought these QC15.. after a lot of thought though.. And it lived up to the challenge. My first use of them was on a long-haul flight and let me tell you… I was amazed. All the airfcraft humm was eliminated.
Don’t get me wrong, you won’t sense que quietness you hear at church, but you will certainly improve your overall travelling experience.
I’m very happy with them, feeling that the 300-bucks were spent in a good way, and Bose earned them. cent by cent.
Beware though, that this unit does not cancel exterior voices, it just works over the low-frequency tones like the sound inside and aircraft cabin, but you can still hear people chatting next to you.
great noise cancelling, pretty good sound…too expensive.
First time reviewer here. I wanted to get some noise canceling headphones for an upcoming trip. I had looked around here on Amazon and had found a couple different pairs that I wanted to try. I only wanted to spend 100 to 150, but also wanted to try them on before hand. So I went to local Best Buy to try some on….couldn’t find the 100 to 150 pair. They did have the Bose there however. Again, not wanting to pay that much, I kept looking around. Finally, I decided to try them on just to see what could possibly cost that much….and these melted comfortably onto my ears and I fell in love. I think they do an excellent job and blocking out airplane noise. As noted in other reviews, these don’t block out sound 100%, but when I take these into the office, put on some music…I can hear very little and can concentrate completely. Are they worth the $$$? Probably not, but they are are an excellent choice if you can spring for them. I give them four stars simply because $300 is simply too much to pay.
Pros: excellent noise canceling on airplane; decent cancellation on voices; great battery life (I liked the AAA battery vice a proprietary rechargeable); sound could be better.
Cons: $300 price tag.
Still the best
I bought the original Bose noise cancelling headphones several years ago and used them on every flight over an hour as well as during my time mowing my 10 acres. I was very happy with their noise reduction and sound quality. A few months ago my 10 month old Golden Retriever puppy got the headphones down from my desk and proceeded to chew up the ear cushions as well as the plug and wire. I replaced the original Bose with the QuiteComfort 15 headphones and found them to be just as comfortable as the original and a bit better at sound cancelling. The acoustic reproduction is perfection. Once again I am able to spend 3 to 4 hours on my diesel tractor in concert hall bliss. No other headphones even come close.
Well Worth The Price
These headphones really deliver! Superior sound quality that simply can’t be matched with any of those wimpy ear buds I’ve tried. The noise cancellation is icing on the cake – great for tuning out unwanted racket. Also, they’re impeccably comfortable, and as far as portability goes, Bose has done a clever job on that score as well. They fold neatly into a zipped oval carrying case (included) the size of a small tote bag – but when I’m out and about, I usually forego the case, since they fit snugly around the base of my neck without feeling too tight. They do require one AAA battery to support the noise cancellation, but that’s really nothing to squawk about considering the results. I thought they might be too bulky to use with my Ipad, but actually I’ve found they’re a match made in heaven. Way to go, Bose!
Had to buy new ones, the old ones fell apart.
I only purchased these because my old Quiet Comfort headphones fell apart. First, the ear cushions slowly disintegrated leaving black felt bits on my face and clothes. So I purchased the ludicrously over-priced $36 cushion replacement kit. While fitting it, the joint between the ear piece and the plastic headband broke. I can’t imagine life without the headphones so I bought the QC15 as a replacement. For the absurd pricing of the cushion replacement kit and the very high price of the QC15 I still feel abused and raped by Bose! Music’s back on though.
Bose quiet comfort 15 review
I was confused if i should go for the QC3 or the QC15, and after reading some reveiws here and asking some friends i decided to go for the QC15 as they are more comfortable on long trips, the QC3 can annoy you ear on a long trip.
i am really happy with QC15 but if you are in a warm place they can make you ears feels hot, other than that they are great.
Bose quet comfort 15
Easy to use, excellent quality sound, shields air travelers from engine noise allowing lower volume for movies and on line music, comfortable cushioned and light on the top of the head. Expensive, but fully meets promised performance.
A Wonderful Sound Investment !!!
Wow, these headphones are fantastic! I bought my first Bose noise-cancellation headphones 10 years ago and they worked perfectly for the entire 10 years, but I recently broke the headband.
I just bought a new pair and, holy cow!, the technology has improved vastly since 1999. Don’t get me wrong, my old pair from 2000 were excellent! I didn’t think they could ever be improved upon. But Bose has done it again! Their new technology has surpassed my expectations. I use these headphones mostly for my Roland digital piano. With these new headphones my piano now sounds like a $80,000, 9 foot Steinway grand! The bass notes are beautifully rich and sonorous now and the treble notes ring like bells! The entire effect is awesome!
I am more than thrilled with this purchase and I know that although they cost $300 that they will, like my last pair, last me for at least 10 years. And in 2020, I will definitely buy another pair of Bose noise-cancellation headphones!!!
i like em enough…
these are the 1st pair of headphones i ever bought. i’m no audiophile. the reviews here are pretty accurate (don’t cancel all noise but hard to find anything better- -and by that i mean i wasn’t even able to find the 2nd and 3rd best rated ones in a store to try them out- -sound and canceling are good enough that you won’t have to blow your ear drum to drown out external sound)….
but the price…is pricey(!). justified paying based on how much i’ll use them….and there’s no better noise canceler out there (but don’t tell Bose that)….
Best phone ever
Its an awesome device, very comfortable, and it does everything it says. It blocks more low frequent noises than other type of noise. I use them to study and work, also in the bus on my way home (the bus has never been so quiet). So you can still hear people talk, but you stay in an immerse experience with your activity (listening to music, reading or studying) even with other people in the room. For a total silence experience I like to put regular ear protectors underneath (that ones they give you on airplanes, made of an orange sponge that you put inside you ear).
Great
I didn’t imagen it can cancel the noise to this much, it’s really amazing and very helpful
amazing purchase!
I bought these Bose headphones after checking up online on other options and testing out some headphones my dad owns. I fell in love and bought them instantly when I tried them! I recently took them to Ireland with me and kept them on my ears pretty much the entire way there and back. They were perfect… blocked out the sound of crying babies on the airplane and also the young children I was traveling with. I watched TV shows and listened to music in peace. I can’t wait to use them back at my apartment in college to block out the sounds of my roommates.
Only negative aspect is the price. I nearly left them at the hotel in Ireland and almost had a heart attack. Luckily I was able to get them back before flying. Paying for these with my college student’s budget and losing them would have been awful. I also found that the prices were the same for this item pretty much everywhere; however, Bose offers a payment plan with no interest on their website.
excellent but battery life low and..
the noise canceling is good but not excellent, there has to be something that can kill the shriek of some screeching person on an aircraft that has no consideration for others? and those co-workers that talk way too loud that have no consideration for others? Bose.. can you deliver us something NEW? and BETTER?
Amazing headphones… not only for music, but for silence!
I wasn’t very sure about spending $[...] on headphone but a long flight to Seoul coming I thought it was worth having something high quality. I had used some small $70 Samsung, noise canceling headphones before but after a few hours it was hurting around the ears. The QC15 seemed much more comfortable in the store (I bought it in an apple store).
When I got on the plain and turned them on I was blown away by the silence. It was just amazing. It wasn’t like reducing the noise around but really removing it. In an airplane there is a lot of ambient noise, it’s actually really loud but I’ve spend the entire 12 hours with the headphones on my head. When I was done playing on my PSP, I thought I would take them off, but that was just impossible. The noise difference is just unbearable and you’ll go from calm to harsh in an instant. You can even unplug the wire from the headphone if you are not listening to anything which makes it easier to walk around and avoid breaking the jack (like I did with another headset) because you sat on it or something.
I cannot find any bad things about it. The case is nice too and doesn’t take too much room in your hand bag. Now I’m thinking of buying one for my 5 year old daughter who flies frequently and loves to watch movies in the plane.
By the way, it is very bad to use regular headphones with kids in a plane because you have to push the sound really high to allow them to listen and their ears will be damaged! With noise canceling headphone, you don’t have to push the sound for them to hear which makes it really worth it and protects their fragile ears.
In terms of battery I don’t know how long it lasts but I have done two 12 hours flights, + two SFO to Chicago and some usage at home on the battery provided.. I think it doesn’t work without a battery so it seems to be really good.
Pricey but don’t go for less.
best noise canceling headphones i have ever use but not at first
I have tried many different noise canceling headphones and determined that the Quiet Comfort 3 are the best on the market. At first these headphones sound like a piece of crap but after you break them in for about a week the sound is gorgeous. when I first got these headphones I was stunned at the level of noise reduction. To test them out I turned on some music on my home theater system then connected these headphones to a Zune HD. Before the music on the Zune even started playing I was amazed at how little I could hear from my home theater system. When the music began playing i couldn’t believe my ears i could not hear a sound but the audio quality was not the best and my ears felt like there were being sucked in. After about 5 minutes of use I noticed I yawning quite a lot. the next day I went out and bought the Beats by Dr. Dre and took them home to test them. When I first put them on I noticed hard and striking bass. The base in these headphones were actually better then the Bose there was also pretty good treble. As i started listening to these headphones a little bet more and the results were not to good. In some songs the treble and bass were perfect but in other songs there was way to much base. I did a little research on the beats and found out that these headphones were made for hip hop. As stated by Dr. Dre himself who is the creator of these headphones said that when he herd in the club by 50 cent was when he knew he had created the perfect headphones. Being an audiophile I was not really wild about this idea so I went back to the Bose. One thing I did like about the Beats was that it has a mute button on the side. when I started using the Bose again I noticed that they sounded A lot better then they once did I was yawning significantly less my ears were not a sucked in and that the Bose were a lot smaller and lighter the the beats. So i returned the beats and kept the Bose.
just bought it and tried and not so sastified
I bought this QC15 and thought that the sound doesn’t leak much but it turned out that everybody around me could hear what I were listening. So if I were using this QC15 at a noisy place, then that would be fine. it is good! but I am always using it in my room, and now I am the one who makes noise, interrupting my wife!
So here is what I experience:
1. this QC15 do fit my ears well, I like it
2. noise canceling is perfect ( I don’t hear anyone but they all hear me now)
3. Sound leaks way too much, this is the reason that I want to return this QC15 to boss, after I just got it for 10mn. I threw away the first panasonic headphone because the sound leak too much, thought that one was so cheap around $35. but for this $299 QC15, i expect more from it. so will try it for a week, and if I get many complaints from my friend about the leak of the sound comparing to their cheap headphones. I will return this QC15 for sure.
Finally, Some Quiet Time
I fell in love with the Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones as soon as I gave them a try. I was in a noisy retail store, and with one flick of the switch the din completely disappeared. I couldn’t believe how effective they were, and I’ve continued enjoying using them for about two months now.
PROS:
-Does a superb job of cancelling out noise.
-Excellent sound quality. I listen to my music at a much lower volume setting and can hear more. No detectable white noise.
-Long battery life.
-Comfortable, even after extended use.
-Lightweight.
-Beautiful design.
-Nice carrying case.
CONS:
-Expensive. The good news (?) is that I have found them for pretty much the same price everywhere else–retail stores and Bose outlet stores sell them for around $299.
-Flimsy plastic. They lost a star in my review because of this. I think if we are paying this kind of money, then Bose can splurge on stronger plastic and or tougher materials.
-Large. They are portable, to be sure, but take up a lot more space in my bag than I would like.
-Hot. Because they cover the ears (providing that excellent noise cancellation!), your ears can get warm, and for me, if I am anyplace above about 77 degrees, they will make my head start sweating. I certainly could not conceive of working out with them.
COMPARABLE PRODUCTS:
-The Bose® QuietComfort® 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones are around $50 more and seem to be made out of sturdier material. However, I personally prefer a regular rechargeable AAA battery over proprietary ones and I find it more comfortable not to have the headphones resting on my ears. If you are more concerned about sturdiness and size than the battery or fit, the QC3 might be for you.
-The Sony MDR-NC500D Digital Noise Canceling Headphone (Black) is a little less expensive and actually seems a bit sturdier than the Bose. However, to my ears, it was clearly not as good at cancelling out the noise. I was a bit disappointed.
-I have owned the Sennheiser PXC 300 four a couple of years. In terms of engineering, it is more compact, and seems much sturdier. There is a constant low-level hiss, though, and I have never enjoyed using them for extended periods. They seem to make high-quality products, and if they solve the white noise issue for me in future models, I may give them a try again, because they are much more reasonably priced.
They actually did improve it over Quitcomfort 2
I have a set of quietcomfort 2 and have enjoyed them for years. I was quite surprised that Bose was able to make an improvement in the noise cancellation technology. I noticed that it was noticeably quieter on flights. It still won’t cancel the noise of a vacuum cleaner but it makes noisy flights bearable. I especially appreciate that it’s run on a AAA battery. The case has a little pouch inside where you can carry spare batteries. And so you don’t have to lug around rechargers.
