A good value on good-quality sound in-ear buds
I bought these as a replacement for my surprisingly durable apple ipod phones.
I have read reviews about a “trebly” sound. I did notice this when first listening. But read the directions! It says they sound better after playing for 24-48 hours; just leave your phones plugged in all day if you aren’t using them during this period. I would say they really started sounding good after a little more playtime than this but not too much longer. And after using them for 6 months, I think they sound better than ever! Also keep in mind these are in-ear headphones. The lower frequencies depend on the whole phone vibrating in your ear, so don’t be turned-off by the relatively small speaker mesh. The bass in these headphones seems pretty darn good.
Minus just one star for having the issue of banging on wires creating noise in the phones (although this is probably an issue with most in-ear phones of this type) and too short of a wire. This is not much of an issue with the J3s when sitting down. I have found that wrapping the wires around the ears almost eliminates the thud, but this makes the wire even shorter than it already is. I have not used the J3 much while exercising so I cannot give an opinion for this type of use. I can say that the smooth wire coating on the J3s does a great job of eliminating any scratching noises, unlike fabric-coated wires.
not durable
I liked these earphones very much, the sound was good, but they broke very quickly.
Keep falling out
I have worn these on my regular outdoor walks, but have trouble keeping them in my ear. There are different sized ear buds packaged with the headphones, but I’ve been unable to find the right combination to keep them in my ears as I walk.
The sound quality is decent, and they are more comfortable than the sport model I have, but I will have to go back to the sport model for walking, and use these only in sedentary activities.
Broke too soon.
These headphones stopped working the first week as the sound goes in and out as if the cord is loose. I expected them to last a bit longer for $10.00. Disappointing.
Great earphones for small ears!
I have very small ears, and its taken me a while to find a pair of earphones that actually fit and are comfortable. These JLABs came with four different sizes of buds, which made it very easy to find a size that will work for you. The sound quality is great, and it has some noise-cancelling qualities as well. I share an office with two other people and I can barely hear them. I’d recommend these, and they are a great value for the price.
Something JLab’s Might Want To Address …
I’ve had a pair of JLabs J3 earbuds for about ten months, and they are beginning to develop a loose connection near the base of the plug – which completely spoils the sound. In my experience this is a common stress point, and resulting weak spot for many earbuds, but ten months is a little premature for such an issue to arise on a set that lists for $80. I’m not an “audiophile”, but I know the difference between honest, full bodied sound reproduction, and the opposite. I’m satisfied with the performance of these buds, so I’ll be buying them again, especially at the bargain price of $25, but I would suggest that JLabs attempt to reinforce this area. I know that they value customer input, so I trust they will address this. Thanks.

Overall JBuds are a good buy – better than most
They sound great, look good, and come with multiple sizes of ear inserts. I did have a problem with the insulation material breaking and bare wire sticking out of one bud. It was after the Amazon return period, however Amazon customer service took care of handling the manufacturer’s warranty. Within a few days, the defective buds were replaced.
Highly Recommended
These earbuds are great. My original pair’s right speaker fell apart after 2 weeks of use. JLab told me it was a defected pair and with my 1 year warranty (which, yes, is good for 1 year), I recieved a new pair in 3 days. I even ordered a pair of the J3 Double Flange Tips, which are much better than the normal tips that come with the J3s. They fit much better in the ear, are more secure, and are better at blocking outside noise. After the 10 day burn in (go to [...] to see how to do it right), they have a great, warm sound. They’re also the best looking earbuds around. No complaints and great customer service. Just remember to register the warranty within 30 days.
Highly Recommended.
Painful to wear
I saw many reviews for the Jbuds J3 and decided to jump on the bandwagon and get a pair. When I first saw them, I was very pleased; the cord has a nice feel and the case is very convenient with the pouch that hold different earbud sizes.
I put the earbuds in my ears and could hear a good range. I’m not a great fan of very heavy bass, but that was still very clear in my music.
The greatest problem that I couldn’t get used to was the crinkling sound I would hear in my right earbud whenever I moved my mouth or the earbud. I’ve had many pairs of earbuds and do understand that the movement of the cord will be picked up by your ears when you’re not listening to music, but this crinkling sound (I think from faulty manufacturing) drove me nuts and actually hurt my ears.
I want to believe that it’s a defect, because the left earbud doesn’t have the same problem, but for now, I’m listening only through one ear because my right ear can’t handle any more pain.
I’m hoping that I’ll find a better pair in the near future.
I’ve had a lot of headphones…
These headphones have surpassed all the headphones I’ve had in the past. I’ve been through Skull-Candy, to Bose, to Shure and Ultimate Ears. These are the best, and for so much cheaper! I haven’t even let them warm up yet (as the instructions say) and they already sound amazing! The bass is perfect. People always say they hear things they’ve never heard before with Bose headphones. I never did with Bose, but with these, you actually do. Try listening to Hotel California. These are a must buy.
It’s ok…
The jbuds work fine if you do not move at all, I mean don’t even breath. The sound created from just touching the wiring is plain ridiculous. This is probably one of the worst earphones I have ever worn while walking or doing some other physical activity. While running, instead of hearing the music, I hear a steady metronome coming from the wire hitting my chest. It is tolerable if I am just sitting and playing my psp. The sound quality is pretty good but the quirk it has with its defective wiring does not make up for it. I would definitely not buy this again or recommend it to anyone.
JBuds plus case
I am an Amazon frequent flyer, but rarely write a review. However this was exactly what I was looking for. I use my iPod to listen to audio books so I can’t say how they would be for music listening, but they are perfect for my audio needs. I like the color (pink) and the way the wire is nicely enclosed in matching pink plastic. Very cute!
The case is the real reason for my review. I have been looking for an earbud case and this is the right size to hold at least two if not three sets of earbuds. I am keeping my bluetooth in it as well as the one pair of earbuds. Again it’s the right size and the color makes it easy to find in my purse. The construction looks and feels sturdy and should last for a long time. I am very happy with this purchase and I appreciate the Frustration-Free Packaging.
Decent sound but horrible fit
I am no audiophile but these buds do seem to generate decent sound. But the worst part is the horrible fit. I tried all the different sizes but none worked. I even got a bad earache after trying one of the buds. Ofcourse, because of that they never stay put even when I am sitting (let alone walking/running).
Had to throw these away. Good thing they are only $20 or so.
Great Earbuds!
I loved these earbuds when I got them in the mail, I could not wait for them to come. My only discrepancy with them is that when you do any heavy physical activity while using them they make a very loud sound much like that of someone tapping a mic.
Great Sound, Not Durable
I originally purchased the headphones as a gift, but after it became clear that I would be unable to connect with the person, I started using them myself several months later. The headphones were comfortable and offered great sound, the only problem is they didn’t last long. The left speaker turns off and on randomly, and you have to twist and play with the cord to get the sound back. And once you start moving again, the sound goes out. I’m sure there’s some problem with the wiring, and although I experienced something similar with another set of headphones, the previous ones lasted for over four years– the JBud J3 lasted only a few months. Although the sound quality really was great, the durability is severely lacking. I’m not the type to run around and abuse the headphones, but it seems you’d have to sit in a room perfectly still whenever you listen to music to extend the life beyond a few months–and then what’s the point? Given that these headphones were more expensive then my previous one (let alone the ridiculous pre-sale price tag), I’d say scope out some other options.
Very nice earbuds
I’ve always had problems with getting earbuds that sound well, don’t fall apart and aren’t too expensive. This time I think I’ve found my solution. I purchased these earbuds for only about $20 and so far I have been nothing but impressed. The sounds quality is better than any of my previous pairs, the noise isolation works wonders, and they are probably the most comfortable earbud I have ever used. They make a nice seal in your ear which allows you to keep the volume relatively low because so much outside noise is removed. There are four different sizes for the bud attachment and I’ve finally found the right size for my ear. I would seriously recommend these earbuds to anyone looking for high quality at a low price.
Will break
This headphones stopped working after a few months. There’s something wrong/weak at the input jack and one of the headphones stopped working. This is a common problem for people that carry their headphones/ipod in their pockets constantly, so I’d be careful, and would instead get headphones with angled connecting jacks like the new VModa’s
I was lucky…..NOT
Before purchasing these JBuds, I read a few reviews that said the left ear bud has stopped working. Well, I usually get very good luck with buying products online without testing them out, so I decided to buy them considering the quality of sound seemed to be well worth the $30. yup…I was very unfortunate this time. Within 1.5 months the left ear bud quality of sound started muffling, but I had thought my left ear was going deaf or something…Nope, around the 2 month mark, right when I was started school and needed my in-ear earphones to blast my jams walking to school, the dang left earbud went completely DEAD.
Then, I emailed JLab, they proceeded to send me their website so I can go through troubleshooting with the earphones, which is completely useless because the left ear bud is DEAD, DEAD, DEAD. After completing their registration and leaving a comment telling them my headphones are useless and I would like either a refund or a replacement, they would only send me emails with directions on how to troubleshoot.
All in all, they were very good headphones while they lasted. But I don’t recommend them if you would like to use them for more than a couple of months.
**Also, I chose to buy these because I had read from reviewers that JLab has very good customer service. Actually, from personal experience, the customer service sucks, and it is all automated emails that get sent out if you have a comment/complaint.
Awesome Noise Isolation for a College Students
I am a senior in college who is living at home with my family which includes a 16 year old which automatically includes unlimited amounts of people, and even more noise. In a world with no quiet these ear buds are amazing!
I am hard on ear buds, as I listen to music almost constantly. I go through ear buds about every 6 months – even $100 Phillips noise cancelling headphones that chew through batteries left and right. I was debating whether to get the J2’s or J3’s, but decided to go with the J3’s. I am very happy I did.
I did 24 hours of burn in with the volume at max on my ipod, and just placed the ear buds in my ears for the first time. The sounds is absolutely gorgeous, and for once I am at peace with my studies and Mozart.
As far as music quality and music types, I listen to classical, pop, 80s, and Broadway musicals. For me these ear buds are great for all types, and provide excellent noise isolation. The only thing I dislike about the buds are the color. Being the girlie girl I am, I naturally picked pink to match my ipod nano. The pink is a sparkly baby pink – I now wish I would have gone with the white instead. They work so well though, the color barely seems to matter.
Buy these ear buds!
10 months later
I was very pleased with the sound that these headphones delivered. I also enjoyed the little case that it came with. But after 10 months of moderate/light use one of the ear buds stopped working. I am very disappointed because i kept very good care of these earphones, always putting them into the case and never using them to work out.
