Good headset, but broke quickly.
Okay, I have to give it to the manufacturer for effort. The quality of the sound was good, the size was right, but the durability was not so good. My son broke these in about 3 months when he got excited about something in one of his learning games and jumped up, getting the volume control caught on the edge of the table. The problem is with having the volume control in the middle of the wire. I don’t think putting anything on the wire is a good idea with kids, since they don’t know to be careful around those delicate areas. They should have put the volume controls on the headset, or right at the plug.
If your child is delicate and careful (yeah right), then these are good to get. However if you have a child that doesn’t know how to be careful around electronic wires, like most kids, then think again.
Also, the product claimed to have volume limitations on it to protect hearing, so I tried them on full volume. I almost blew out my eardrums. I’m not sure if I missed something in the instructions, but don’t rely on this for protecting your child’s hearing. Be a good parent and listen in every once in a while to make sure they don’t have it turned up too loud.
Perfect fit
These headphones are a perfict fit for my 4 y/o. Have already traveled on one trip and headed out for another. I really like the volume control option and the fact that these fit over her ears and not inside the ear canal. She has trouble with those staying put. Highly recommend.
What a lifesaver!!!
We just returned from a vacation with our 5 and 3 year old girls which involved a 12 hour drive each way. These headphones were a lifesaver and worth every penny. The girls were able to plug their headphones into their TV’s, Leapster game and Tag Reading System. This allowed everyone in the car to hear what they wanted to without the distraction from other noise in the car. It really helped keep a calm and quiet environment in the car for most of the trip. The headphones are comfortable for kids and easy to use (they can put them on and turn up the volume by themselves). I decided to purchase these after reading other people’s reviews that mentioned the low volume of other headsets and the quality of the audio in these. I rated 4 stars for durability b/c we haven’t had them long enough to see how they hold up. They survived our first trip and are made well…but I’m sure my girls will eventually find a way to destroy them!
Takes some training but ROCKS
I bought these for a plane ride with my 15-month old. He loves Jack’s Big Music Show so I uploaded some shows to my iphone with the hope that he would watch them on the plane with the headphones. When I first put the headphones on him, he completely refused to wear them. He pushed them away, he screamed, and I thought I had made a huge mistake. BUT after several days of trying, he finally realized that the only way to hear Jack on my iphone was to wear the headphones. It took about a week to get him to watch the full show with the headphones but it worked. And now he goes bonkers whenever he sees the headphones. They ROCK!
Well Thought Out Design
After researching headsets for my 5.5 yr old, I bought this set and the Griffin myphones. I thought we could compare them, and if we liked both, one set could be for my 17 month old, too. After two weeks, my 5 yr old and I both prefer this set. It has a wider adjustment range, (fits the toddler AND fits me, an avg.-headed woman, but doesn’t fit larger-headed husband) The sound quality is excellent, the plastic seems durable and flexible, and should withstand moderately rough use.
The options for two ways of controlling volume is particularly nice, b/c my son mostly listens to audio books, but also listens to music sometimes. The flexibility is great, b/c other headsets “volume limiters” just lower the overall volume, thus causing the spoken word or quieter songs, soft music (esp. lullaby style music) to not get loud enough to hear.
Before purchasing this headset, I called Kidz Gear on the phone to ask specifically about the decibel restriction issue above. I was promptly answered by a friendly, polite man with plenty of good information and the willingness to explain it all. Customer service seemed excellent, should I need help in the future.
I am a research-nut and not very easy to please. Despite these qualities, I would buy this again and would recommend it to others.
Headphones for tots
I purchased these for my 2 yr. old granddaughter. The first time I put them on her, she lit up and was surprised by what she was hearing. They fit really well. She plays with the volume wheel all the time so I am hoping she will not damage it. We are planning a flight so I got these to go with a portable dvd player to keep her occupied for some of that time. I am sure these will do the trick.. I put them on myself and was surprised by how well they fit me and the sound quality. I feel my money was well spent..
Lasted a week
We got these for my 1.5yo son to use with his computer. It lasted about a week then the wire separated where it meets the joint just before splitting to the left and right sides. This product is not durrable enough for young children to use unattended.
Fairly durable, but my daughter didn’t think they were comfy
These puppies did last for 2 years of heavy use by my now 5 year old, but she complained that they hurt her ears. I could see her ears were often red after use. She’s a tiny child, <3% for weight, but perhaps she has a strangely large head? They did seem a bit tight, but I was just happy they stayed on her head when so many other didn’t.
Awesome Headphones for Kids
I couldn’t believe that I actually decided to purchase these for an upcoming long plane flight for my almost 2yr old daughter. I thought to myself that this will just be a gigantic waste of money because no matter how well they are supposed to fit a toddler there was no way she was going to keep these on and would probably break them inside of 15 mins. WOW was I wrong! I could not believe what I was seeing. We tried them out at home the day they arrived and she sat and watched an entire movie without taking them off and she actually fought to keep them on all day. I couldn’t believe it. The volume limiter is also a great idea since every toddler knows how to operate every single button on all electronics. I also have a 11 month old that when she saw her big sister wearing these of course she had to also and even though they are not designed for a child that small they stayed on pretty well. Of course she could not sit still too long.
Bottom line I don’t believe you could be disappointed with this purchase. They are inexpensive and they work. Of course on a plane trip with 2 kids even if they work for 10mins your happy.
Love them!
Got these for our toddler (19 months) to use on a long plane ride. She happily wore them and they fit great. Sound quality was good and we had no problems. Looking forward to using them next month on another long trip.
Great headphones for kids
These headphones worked great for my 3 and 5 year old boys. They even worked great for me. The small covers were a little small for my kids’ ears, but my kids have abnormally big ears, and it didn’t matter anyway cause they still worked even though it didn’t cover their entire ear. Like I said, I tried it myself and worked good for me, much better than those pieces of junk they give you on the plane. Sound quality seemed very good and it was nice to have the volume adjuster on the cord.
Great for Toddler
I bought these headphones for my 2 year old daughter to go along with a portable DVD player. I wasn’t sure how well they were going to work for her since she likes to play with things more so than use them, but they have worked out great. She has used them several times and has never complained that they hurt or that they’re uncomfortable.
I would recommend these to anyone who has a young child and a need for headphones.
Perfect for little ones
I saw all of the reviews before buying and thought, “no way these things can be that good”. I was wrong! Great headphones. My son loves them. The volume doesnt go as loud as other headphone which is great because i know my son will have hearing in the coming years.
Perfect for kids
These are the perfect size for our 2 and 5 year old grandchildren. They fit nicely over the ears and are well padded for comfort. Plenty of wire length, sound seems good.Adjustable for use as the kids grow.
Meets my expectations
I bought it for my kids. It fits very well on their heads. We only used it for a couple of times so I’m not sure regarding the durability part, but for now they seem OK.
Perfect for travel
I bought these for my 3 year old. They fit perfectly and allowed him to watch movies and listen to music while we traveled overseas. It made traveling easier because he was occupied. The fit was great because they stayed on and he could hear better with these than with larger pairs we tried.
Best kids headphones ever!
We have tried many headphones and these are the absolute best. My kids love them and they fit great. Very durable which is necessary with little ones. Work great for 1 yr old, 3rd old and even 7 year old.
Great fit for my 3 yr. old!
I bought these for a plane trip and they worked excellent for my 3 year old to watch movies on the laptop. They fit perfect on her head- comfortable and don’t slide off. Plus, there is an adjustment so these headphones can grow with her. Even after the trip, she loved using them on the computer to play games. Unfortunately, afer only having them for a couple months and only using them occasionally, one of the ear pieces sound went out. Now, she can only hear out of one side. Fortunately, I was able to get a replacement, since they are still under warranty. I absolutely love these headphones and hope they last for years to come.

Great idea, but needs better execution
My four year old needed headphones for his DVD player. Kid sized head phones seemed like the perfect thing.
They look great and are comfortable. The plush ear pads help block out ambient noise. The size is good.
My biggest problem is that the cords are so thin. For something designed for kids, they should have thicker, more durable cords. My son broke two sets of cords in a year. (I tried soldering it back together, but the wires are so thin, it didn’t last long).
