Good sounding headphones that DON’T LAST!
I purchased these headphones on June 9th, 2010 and already one side of them has completely quit working. I should know better by now seeing as these are the 3rd pair I’ve had over the years, neither of the 2 pairs I had before ever gave out in 2 months though. This will definitely be the last pair I’ll ever actually purchase. I don’t know if everyone knows that these have a lifetime warranty on them through Koss and if you go to their website you can find the address where you can return these to for a free replacement pair. I’ve done that with a previous pair but was to lazy and didn’t really feel like returning them to Koss, so I just gave Koss more of my money by purchasing another pair and encouraging them to keep making these headphones with such poor quality build wise. As I mentioned before the pair I purchased in June will be the last pair of these I ever purchase, even though I enjoy the sound quality and fit.
Very good earphones
Excellent bass level. Placement and position a bit uncomfortable. But a good relation cost x benefit.
blown away
i read the reviews and was skeptical. these sound ridiculously good for how cheap they are. only con is they leak sound something terrible-doesnt bother me tho.
Fantastic long serving phones
I did not buy them here, rather picked up at Radio Shack a few years ago. I soldered them to my Blackberry cable, then to my IPhone 3Gs cable then to my (latest) IPhone 4Gs cable. As you can tell, I have owned them for a while, as you can tell. These are by far the best portable phones I ever had. They produce fantastic sound, I think better than my Senheiser pair for $70.00. They sound nice and crisp when listening to music. They even have a nice base punch, and plenty of power if you like it loud. I also spend a lot of time on a daily meetings (IPhone), and I don’t know what I would do without these. The speech comes out very clear and it is easy to make out what other people are saying (when ATT is not mangling the quality).
I spilled water on them, dropped them numerous times, dragged them by the wire after a bicycle, stepped on them – they are literally indestructible. The sound quality did not degrade with years, no rattling effect many other headphones acquire after some usage (especially very loud).
I literally cannot believe they are as cheap as they are. My friend has a set of Bang and Olafsen buds he paid 100.00 for. When I let him listen to a pair of 15.00 Koss, he was in shock!
If you are looking for a pair if great sounding super reliable phones, you have found them!
Broke within weeks
Broke within a few weeks & now useless. The headphones stay on your ear via tension from a small component that rotates. After using it for a month, mine now rotates so far on one side that it no longer stays on my ear. Due to a design flaw I now have only one working headphone. Best of all, the ‘warranty’ requires you to pay Koss $7 for the repair and pay for shipping to them – in effect it’s not a warranty at all, it’s a repair service charging half the cost of the headphones plus shipping.
the clips broke already
Sound
The quality is definitely great for its price.
Durability
I am a clumsy person though. I somehow managed to break off the clip on part already =/ I’m trying to find a solution right now and it seems Koss doesn’t have replacement clips. It would be an even better product if KSC could make these in-ear earphones…that way it’s not too easy for me to break.
Appearance
The headphones are pretty big on me…I have a really tiny frame so the appearance is not that great.
I don’t like those Q-Tip type earbuds.
These are my favorite type of earbuds – they don’t get shoved into your ear canal and they don’t have the bulking band connecting the two buds together. I wish they made them with shorter iPod connection wire. It just needs to reach from my arm to my ear with slack to weight lifting.
Incredible Value!!!!!
This is the best purchase from a value standpoint , that I’ve made in a long while. Theses headphones are OUTSTANDING. Incredible clarity, detail and are also comfortable. A real winner. For the price they cannot be beat. Sound better than a pair of Sennheiser HD 201’s that I just purchased.
I really love these headphones… too bad they’re so fragile
These affordable headphones have such great sound and are so comfortable, I can wear them 8 hours straight while at work. Those in-ear designs have me writhing in agony after 30 minutes of use, but not these babies! The over-the-ear design is ideal for work, where I need to be semi-aware of what’s happening around me, but also need to be able to block out surrounding distractions. These phones succeed on both counts. Just be aware there is a lot of bleed out, so your cubicle neighbor might complain if your volume is high.
They’re so affordable, I bought a few pairs so I can just keep one pair at work and one at home.
The bad news, they’re not all that durable. I’ve gone through 3 pairs now. The mechanism that connects the wire to the earpiece is not reinforced and tends to come loose so the sound cuts in and out for a while before failing entirely. But they are so dang comfortable, I can’ help myself– I’ll just keep buying this model as they fail. (I was able to restore one to health with a drop of solder.)
Koss (ksc75) Portable Stereophone Headphones
Hi
Everytime I use these, I still can’t believe the incredible sound that’s coming out of these. It is so shocking how little they cost and the superb sound that comes out. More than worth the cost. Definitely.
Excellent Koss Sound
These sound incredible like every Koss product I own. I don’t know how they do it at the price point they sell them for. I own a set of Koss Portapro’s and a set of Senheiser PX – 100’s probably the best 2 phones out there regardless of price. These do not dissapoint, they are right there with those 2. They are extremley comfortable (at least to me) in fact the most comfortable I’ve had in a clip on style. The only dissapointing thing to me was that I was under the impression they had an in line volume control (THEY DO NOT!) so if that means a lot to you take that into consideration before you purchase. It was a minor thing to me and they sound so good I don’t care. Plus Koss sells a volume control you can add to any phones if you need one that badly. I also own a set of Koss spark plugs which are the best bud style I’ve owned. and a set of the Koss $4.99 all purpose phones from Wal-Mart. Even they sound better than phones costing way more. plus thy even came with extra ear cushions and they do have an in line volume control. All Koss products have an unconditional lifetime warranty. $6 will replace any set you own no matter the cost or reason. it’s a no brainer, you can’t go wrong with Koss. I’m a lifelong fan now.
15 bucks little man
Pros
Cost: very cheap even at a retail store like Electronics Expo or Wal-mart
Sound: i have a pair of Sennheiser OMX 52 and those cant come close to matching these unless i squeeze the OMX 52 against my head
Design: aesthetically its very nice but a few gripes on functionality…
Cons
Usage: it might just be me but i have to spend about 2 minutes every time i put them on to get them just right as the ear clips cannot be adjust to any great degree
Overall: Koss KSC75s are such great values that even en.wikipedia.org states this on their page for Koss Corp. That said these earphones might be abit difficult to use with larger ears but if they ever break for any reason at all make you keep your Koss warranty papers as they have a “No Questions Asked” policy for their warranties (something Sennheiser probably will never do).
Best headphones ive owned
I love these headphones! I would consider paying up to $50 for them if I had to. They stay on your ear well and are comfortable. I can wear them for extended periods of time without any discomfort. Compared to most other headphones of the same type and all in ear headphones the sound quality is much better. They can handle all the ranges that music have, from treble to bass. I would recommend them to everyone. It is one of the best purchases I’ve made in a while.
That dratting cord!
I love these headphones to death and the sound quality is quite astounding. Yes, the clips can break off but they don’t just fall off; it does take a bit of pressure to make them come off.
My problem is that the cord is rubbish! Instead of being encased in the 90 degree plug things used to come with, this is the straight ipod style plug (the pictures show an older model I believe). With almost daily use for 10 months, I noticed that the cord was being pulled out of the plug from all the weight of the pulling I had been doing to it. I taped it up but the cord managed to finally kill the right side audio today. Honestly I would recommend these to anyone I meet but I would feel better about buying them if they lasted longer than a year with constant use. I’ll have to preemptively strike and glue the cord to the plug this time!
Portable and NOT in ear.
This is a good product to buy if your buying criteria include
1. Should fit in your pocket easily.
2. Should not touch/rub the inside of your ear.
3. Should be cheap (less than $20)
No-Brainer Upgrade for Most Portable Devices
I orignially bought these to use with my Motorola Droid for use at the gym, but they are so good I find myself using them all the time. They have a clean, open, deatiled sound with tight-but-not-super-deep bass. The ear-clip design is a bit difficult to get used to at first, but once you get the hang of it, the KSC75’s stay comfortably planted on your ear in circumstances that would be tough for some headphones, such as bouncing around during heavy physical activty or lying in bed. Last but not least, inexpensive replacement earpads are readily available online, which is an important consideration if you use your headphones when working out or if the original ones ever get damaged for some reason.
All in all, if you are buying headphones for portable device (or looking for a great sub $20 gift for a music lover), these are a no brainer upgrade. Highly recommended.
The Best Headphones in This Price Range
These headphones will easily outperform most headphones in the $40 and under range, and they’re easy to obtain for less than $20. They have a fantastic sound from the low range to the high range, and nothing sounds out of place. The bass won’t have crazy “oomph” like other larger headphones, but for its size, it’s still impressive. It overall sounds balanced. The clips for your ears are not the most comfortable, and you probably won’t forget that you’re wearing them, but they fit well and they get the job done. The portability of these headphones are also a plus. You can easily wrap up the wiring and put them in your pocket or just about any small space.
Overall, I’m very impressed with these headphones. Nothing in this price range is going to give you bigger bang for your buck. Don’t expect audiophile quality from this, but these headphones will deliver, and they’re perfect for any trip. If you need a cheap set of headphones for one purpose or another, you won’t be disappointed with these.
Excellent.
Bought these on Amazon a little less than two years ago.. gotta say that for how much I gave for them, they’ve paid for themselves twenty times over. Why do I say that, you ask? Well. When I think of headphones, I try NOT to think of headphones. They’re just a thing I put on my ears to listen to whatever it is I want to listen to in a more private manner. If you are a picky audiophile, like myself, you wanna be able to not think about how good or bad your headphones sound while not thinking about your headphones in general. Buy these babies and call me in the morning. I’ll be buying some new ‘phones when these stop working (knock on wood), and not one second sooner.
You’ll want to listen to you music collection again with these. Amazing Sound!
The Koss KSC75 is really a gem for cheap. Believe the hype on these phones. The sound quality is really impressive especially in relation to its price. I have noticed myself going through old albums and listening to them with the KSC75 and hearing things I never heard before. They just give me a whole new listening experience. Punchy Bass and sharp treble but still maintaining a balanced sound and good detail is remarkable. I would recommend ” breaking in” the headphones for a few days. The sound gets better and better the more you use it. There are mods that can be found for these and I strongly recommend doing them. The sound quality greatly improves with the available mods.
Comfort of these headphones are quite good but you need to take advantage of the bendable ear clip to get it the way you want. I am not fond of the design of these headphones but I really could care less. The sound makes up for it ten fold.
I just ordered another pair of the KSC75 even though I have one that is perfectly fine. Thats how much I like these. An extra one just in case. Koss offers a nice lifetime warranty on these as well. Strongly recommend.
Not at all what I expected!
I love headphones I have quite a few of them too. But I have yet to find a great headphone for very cheap. I would have to say my friends Jbuds are the best ones I’ve listened to. These headphones are no worth it. There very hard to put on plus the little thing that holds the two pieces together falls off a lot which is very annoying.
Sound Quality: These are the worst headphones ever if there is even a little noise around you. I ended up having to turn the volume up all the way because of it. Even driving in the car I decide to put my ipod in while the radio’s playing very low, Cant here anything but the radio. Plus the bass is not very good it falls out especially in songs with a big beat.
Cable: The Cord is awful it gets tangled just about every time you use it. But one thing I do like about it is the strait earphone jack compared to the L shaped one.
These do have a stylish look to them. But the look isn’t sound.
