In 1945, Dr. Fritz Sennheiser together with seven engineers and technicians set out on the venture to found a new company. The research and development specialists converted their university institute, which had been moved during the war to the small village of Wennebostel, into what became known as ‘Labor W’, and it was there that they began to build measuring instruments. Less than a year later, microphones were added to their product range, and soon the resourceful team became extremely successful in numerous fields of audio technology. Those were the humble beginnings of Sennheiser electronic, now a worldwide group of companies with more than 1,600 employees and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of complete audio solutions. Still a family-owned company, Sennheiser has made a name for itself above all in the development and manufacture of high-quality microphones, wireless RF technology and headphones. Conference and information technology, infrared systems, products for the hearing impaired and aviation headsets round off the comprehensive product portfolio. Nice Headphones
I have purchased hundreds of dollars worth of head-phones and these are one of the best for the money. The sound quality is very good and the headphones are comfortable for wearing long periods of time which I do for music recording.
Good headphones for the price
I have no issues with these headphones. They work and fit just fine for me. I wear them mostly at home (they look a bit goofy to wear outdoors) and they provide great sound for the money. They have an extra long cord with a pocket clip that takes up any unwanted slack (a big plus for me). If you need a nice pair of headphones under $30 bucks you won’t be sorry with these.
good BUT flimsy feel
i love the brand.. i love these headphones… and for the price, they ARE a good deal… but i would expect better quality plastic/build from sennheiser..
the speakers are attached to the headband with a very thin plastic.. everything plastic on these headphones feel flimsy..
the cord is very thin and feels cheap.. for a cord that long, i ‘d expect a thicker cord….
sound quality is good… everything else, not so good.. i dont know how long they will last so i cant say for sure.
but i can say that they dont FEEL (look ok) very high quality when you hold them in your hand …
i will nto return them as the price is good.. but again.. not very happy either.
Great headphones..Fabulous value!
I’ve been a Sennheiser fan for over 35 years. I bought these headphones to use with my portable bookshelf stereo which requires the smaller headphone jack. The sound is excellent. Good reproduction across the board including bass, and great imaging, meaning excellent separation between the channels. You could spend a lot more, but why? This is everything that you could possibly want from a good set of headphones at a price that is sensible.
Affordable high quality sound
The sound is pure, rich and undistorted. I enjoy both jazz and classical music, and both sound great on these headphones. The cord is too long for my preference, but some people may find that useful.
Sound Good Comfort Bad
I returned these headphones because they were uncomfortable to wear for even a short period of time.I bought another pair of Koss UR-40, because my first set were accidently broken.I was going to try another brand had heard Sennheiser were a good name, but wasn’t happy with the fit over the ears or how tight they were on my head.
Not durable
Generally I review products months after I have bought it. That is because I believe it takes atleast a month or more for the initial enthusiasm and excitement to fade away. I have been a great Sennheiser fan. I own three headphones. All three are sennheiser. One is for sport and gym; the other is for travel and this is the one for home. I bought these headphones four months back. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about its sound quality. It is definitely worth the price or probably more. But the chord is too long and does not have a proper protection at the end where it connects the ear piece. This makes it too vulnerable to break and consequent disconnection.
While my last home headphones (also sennheisser) lasted for a year and two months, this one lasted for four months. This is frustrating.
This review would help people who are fussy about durable heaphones.
I give 0.5 /5 for its durability.
Thanks
Great set of headphones.
These headphones will definitely be the best value you can get. For only around $25 you’re getting high quality headphones dirt cheap.
Sound Quality – Sure, the sound isn’t perfect. But that doesn’t mean I wasn’t impressed. The bass was just a bit on the weak side…it won’t blow you away with pounding bass. But the sound was crystal clear, and I was still very pleased.
Comfort – Overall, these headphones are comfortable. But every once in awhile they start to hurt my ears. Not enough to actually stop me from using them, just enough to annoy me.
Cord – The cord extends pretty far, about 4 feet I think. It has a cord wheel so you can shorten that up if needed. The cord is a good quality and I was very pleased.
Durability – So far, so good. It’s been a few months now and I haven’t hit one snag with the durability of the headphones.
BIG Sound, Big Value!
If you like value, the sound from these bad boys is impressive. They also have a coll form and are made with quality materials. I believe this is a great find, as I’d easily pay 3 times as much for these, now that I know how good they are.
Sennheiser headphones
I am a medical transcription student and wanted a headset that fit over my ears and helped to block out some noise, but not all. I have children and needed to hear them! These work great! Yes, after long periods of time, the pressure does bother my ears a bit from pushing against my ears/head, but I just move them a little and it relieves it. I’ve never felt the need to take them off during coursework because of it. I had purchased Bose headphones before these for a lot more money, but wasn’t that impressed and returned them. These are keepers!
Great Product
Overall, I find these to be the best headphones I have ever purchased in the 20-30 dollar price range. Very crisp sound, and none of the highs, mids, or lows are overpowered or muddled- these headphones will take whatever EQ you have set, and perform wonderfully. They are quite comfortable, although a full circum-aural fit would have been better. The extra long cord is also a plus.
I would recommend this product to anybody looking for a relatively cheap, but very good, pair of headphones.
These are amazing!
I bought these as a effort to save money and it was a smart investment. I wanted headphones like Beats by Dr. Dre and these come up close! They have excellent bass output, light weight and there is good amount of cord and fits snug on my head. If you want something excellent and affordable you MUST buy these.
Not available in a reasonable time period….
These may be great headphone and this may be a good price but I will never know because the vendor does not have any in stock. Ordered last Sunday and discovered today that they can not deliver until first week of September – if then.
How good is that?
Amazon should do a better job of policing it vendor “partners”; how can they let people sell stuff that they do not have in stock in sufficint quantity so they can deliver?
Also, why is it there is not email address so one can contact Amazon directly?
What is Amazon afraid of here?
I will spend my money elsewhere.
disappointing compared to Sennheiser’s better stuff
I’m used to listening to a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 pros at work, and a pair of Etymotic er-6i’s at the gym. I was hoping to get some high quality but affordable phones for my occasional non-speaker home listening, and bought the 202s. Well, maybe I’m spoiled, but: yuck. Switching between them and the 280s left me no choice but to return the 202s. The high end was murky; low end was overrepresented. Fit wasn’t as good, either — I’ve seen some reviews implying that the 202s are circumaural, but they’re really not (they’re still pretty comfortable, just not *as* comfortable).
I suspect reviewers are right to call the 202s a good deal for the price, but I don’t think anyone who’s been exposed to slightly nicer cans will be happy with this purchase. I should note that I’ve also bought other lower-end Sennheisers before as a gift — the (discontinued?) HD 212s, if I remember right — and my memory says that those were much, much better than the 202s. Better to skip a meal or two out and pick up the higher-end model.
Amazing Headphones
Earlier I was skeptical on buying this product given its price, but then I thought that a it might be worth it and right I was!! amazing sound quality for songs and games alike… I normally prefer to listen to songs with beats in my headphones only these days… portability is surely an issue due to which I carry them as a bag as I fear that the wires might get damaged if I put them inside my sack… kinda funny, but thn all worth the money!!! I would say ‘Go for it!!!’
good sound…ear cups too small.. good value
My only complaint is my ear will not fit into the over-the-ear cuffs provided: making the device uncomfortable.
Great deal all around.
As I write this review, I’ve had my pair for a little over two years now. It shouldn’t be very significant to say they’re still working, and working well, but the way most products are made lately I’ve got into the habit of measuring their working life against how much I paid for them. This goes doubly so for the case of headphones. If I buy a $15 – $20 pair of headphones, I’d like to get at least 3 – 4 months out of it. I figure if it averages out to about $5 a month I’ve had my money’s worth.
In the case of the HD 202’s I’m looking at about $1.15 per month. The way these things sound and hold up after that long astounds me. I’ve used them as temporary reference headphones for a guitar and amplifier and for standard music/movie listening both on the road and at home. They’ve seen all manner of abuse from drops and stuff being dropped on them, to hard pulls on the cord going so far as to accidentally pull the earpiece free of the headband; which I should note is possible with these headphones, but they slot right back into place as if nothing happened. If only more headphones were this difficult to break, unlike the Beats Solo which have a built-in weak point just above the earpiece. Good luck taking them off your head without cracking the headband.
Anyway, I love these headphones. Even though they are certainly not the best out there, and they have developed a little bit of a buzz at high volume recently, I still feel they’re well worth the price and will certainly last a good long time. Because of this, I always recommend the newer HD-203’s at my place of work. Almost nothing compares to the quality over cost.
Great Sound, but my ears hurt
These were a huge step up from my Koss headphones I was using at work. These cup your entire ear, and I cannot hear anything around me when I have them on. Really lets you hear the music and nothing else.
After 2-3 hours of wearing, my ears hurt from the squeezing pressure of the headphones – that’s my biggest complaint.
Sound is awesome, deep bass I haven’t heard before in headphones.
The cord is a bit too long for my needs (10 feet), but maybe for a DJ that’s perfect. It comes with a cord winder, which I use to shorten it to about 4 feet.
Wish it had an inline volume control, but only because my previous pair had this, so I didn’t have to go clicking for the sound/volume controls on the computer to raise/lower the volume.
Overall I’m pleased.
Overall
I’m all about the music, and this headphones provide me with rich sound. im using them on my player and they got extra bass without tuning the EQ. either way they gonna be quite handy on my PC because thats the reason i bought them i needed some good headphones for music recording and for not so expensive price, and as far as i can say they arent expensive they provide rich sound, they arent noise canceling headphones but as i can tell i couldnt even hear my self speaking when i put them on. I think i couldnt make better choice for that amount of money.
Initially Impressed
Pros: So far so good. Great sound and good noise isolation. Pretty comfortable and light.
Cons: No volume control on the line; minor con.
Overall: for $27 + free shipping for some good Sennheiser head phones, there’s not much to complain about!
