First, some small stuff I didn’t like: The jack is at a 90 degree angle, at least it is well made, hasn’t gotten in the way so far- maybe this is just an aesthetic preference; It comes with this coin-purse like case, it has magnets on it and I have a semi-rational fear of it ruining my iPhone; the earphones have little covers for themselves (the same type that all earphones come with) but these are especially large and made it harder to fit in my ear.

The actual review: I sweat a lot, like I’m just one of those people, so when I took the earphones for a 40 min run I was half expecting them to crap out, luckily they didn’t. After twisting them in, I had no problem the rest of the run. I was able to focus on the run and my music with out the annoyance of feeling my headphones fallout. The left earphone was much more snug in my ear than my right – probably just needs a different size piece (which come with the headphones). After the I took the headphones out I noticed the place where I had twisted them into my ear hurt a little bit. This quickly went away.

Want workout headphones? These are some of the best I’ve found.

I had these headphones for less than 6 months and the entire thing broke apart from the buds to the wires. Everything. And I was surprised how lacking the sound quality was.

BY ALL MEANS, unless you find them for less than 30 dollars, pass on these versions of Sennheiser headphones. I kind of feel like I was ripped off at the price of 30 dollars.

Before I start my review off, I’d like to mention I fit both headphones compared as best as they sounded while naturally fit in my ear.

Listening to both my previous headphones, the OMX-80, and this the MX-85, the low soundlevel range is of significantly less intensity than the OMX 80. On louder volume settings the high range sound (of excellent quality overall) is far louder than the bass (good quality on very loud settings). On closer observation the speakers on the MX-85 are quite smaller than the supposed sister headphones OMX 80 in size. Which likely lends to the decrease of bass in general.

Although, after some immediate disappointment, I must mention that the twist design was the only reason I would recommend buying these at all, over other versions of Sennheiser or other brands. It is very secure in the ear (in moderate activity), almost painless over long durations of use, and hasn’t broken on me yet from defects unlike the OMX 80 which is almost soundless in the left ear, normal in right (and soon is going to be returned for a hopefully better replacement).

So, if you are tired of headphones becoming dislodged occasionally (in moderate activity), and won’t be turned off by low level sound that truly fails to impress me, these are actually worth buying.

A fair 3 Stars for the $30.00 price I purchased these at expecting them to be comparable to, or the same as the OMX-80.

i owned a pair of the mx75’s and they work great, especially for staying in your ears during working out (especially running). these and they are of similar purpose and quality, highly recommend for anyone looking for running headphones.

These are the best sports headphones money can buy. I’ve tried the CX380 Sennheiser and they suck. These stay in your ears in high winds and have great sound. I train anywhere from 5-8 hours of running, biking (trainer) in the winter and use them for running in the summer and they last at least a year. Doesn’t sound like a lot but I use the crap out of them and I sweat like a Sasquatch in Haiti.

Finally! Headphones with good sound that don’t slip out while I’m running. The extra contact at the top of the ear is a little irritation when I’m using them at work, but I certainly don’t notice it when I’m running.

Mediocre ear buds. Good sound, not so good packaging.

The left ear cord is 8.5″. The right ear cord is 20″. This imbecilic asymmetry is a continual annoyance.

These ear buds work only if you have large ears. They probably won’t work if you are a normally sized woman. Did not work for my wife. Once fit, the ear buds do stay in the ears comfortably.

There must be better ear phones that stay in the ear for around the same price. Pass this product by and keep looking.

I run a lot and had over-the-ear earphones, which worked ok but would slip out once I started sweating and made it very difficult to hear the music. After reading other peoples’ reviews regarding these I thought I would give them a try. I changed out a couple of the pads that come with them and they haven’t moved, budged or slipped once! Regardless of how much I’m sweating. And I didn’t realize how bad my other earphones were from a sound quality either. I got these for $30 and they are worth every penny. I certainly wouldn’t pay more than $30 for earphones (I like music, but I like money too), but I would definitely recommend these and will buy them again should something happen to mine.

Earphones work pretty much as advertised. They do stay in once you get the fit right. Everyone’s ears are different, so try the various sizes until you get a fit that works for you.

I own the Ultimate Ears .3 Metro earbuds. While the sound quality is EXCELLENT they never stay in my ears when working out or exercising. I have to constantly push them in hoping they will stay. No matter what earbud size I used…nothing worked. Calls to the UE customer service line were horrible. The support techs don’t care and know nothing. When you spend close to $100 on earbuds, it is a huge let down by the manufacturer that they don;t care to support their product.

ENTER THE SENNHEISER MX85 which by the way were less than 1/3 the cost of my UE’s. I was reluctant to try the Sennheiser as they appear as if they would be uncomfortable and awkward to insert and they look similar to the Apple style headphones. (Apple buds simply do not stay in my ear and jump around when I move). I bought the Sennheiser’s two weeks ago. While I am STILL experimenting with the optimal accessory combination for my ears, the Sennheiser’s are pretty darn comfortable, have very good sound quality and you can make the bass quality more pronounced(if you prefer) by using the spongy bud covers that come in the box. While the buds do move a bit, they certainly move less than the half dozen or so other buds I have tried.

When I had questions – as the Sennheiser instruction sheet in the box is a waste of trees – I emailed Sennheiser. I received a PROMPT return communication, a Utube email link as to how to use the buds and another return communication when I had one last question. Sennheiser customer service wow’ed me (Thank you Eric P). All in all I recommend these earbuds for those that have big ear canals where it is hard to get the foamy earbuds to stay in your ear when exercising.

Bad and waste of money…only good thing about them that they cost only 35 dollar.

The Sennheiser MX85 Sport Series II Twist to Fit has great bass response, but I must use a sweatband to keep them in place otherwise they fall out.

There is no physical way these things will stay in my ears without a sweatband holding them against my ears, no way.

But I’m not complaining about the need to use a sweatband with these earbuds, the bonus about using a sweatband to push against them against the ears is that they get a much tighter fit in the ear canal giving a fuller bass sound.

As a matter of fact I bought two pair.

I’m the only weightlifter in the gym that wears a sweatband, but that ok because I don’t like to use a towel to wipe my sweat after my hands and my gym towel have been in contact with all that germ filled equipment.

As an aside, if you want to avoid a cold or flu, don’t touch your eyes or nose and you’re never going to get sick unless someone sneezes on you.

For a good sweatband, I’d recommendUnique Headbands by Unique Sports.

I have owned the previous type of this same style earphone, they were green. The twist in disc is much softer on the mx85 offering way more comfort for long rides or long runs. They stay in the best for me in all sport applications I would never buy any other style again. I am not the person to ask about sound quality and base is not a concern for me but to me they sound great. My biggest issue is finding an earphone that does not come out while engaging in many outdoor activities and these don’t fall out.

Awesome earphones for running. I just retired an older version of this style which I have had for 3 years. Once in place they stay in very well. Even on my long runs, sweat doesn’t make them come loose. I highly recommend these. The sound quality is great also.

I purchased these about a month ago. I have been looking for a good pair of ear buds and I have finally found them. The fit is perfect for me. Take your time and try out all the different size attachments (comes with many choices). What I hate the most is constantly fidgeting with the ear buds while exercising, because they feel like they are about to fall out, or the sound has changed so you have to wiggle it around to get it back. I do not do that with these. They fit nice and tight, and don’t move around while working out in the gym, or running on the track. I also sweat more than most people, and that hasn’t effected them at all. I even soaked one of the buds on accident in the water fountain, before I put them in. No problem. The one puzzling thing with them, is that one of the buds is on a longer wire than the other. I couldn’t figure out why (not mentioned in the instructions). So I went to the website and found that they are designed to go over one shoulder and behind the neck. So one bud has to be longer. Cool idea, it works well for me in the weight room. No longer worry about the cord dangling i front of me. They are built solid, and sound solid. I highly recommend you try these on for size.

I have struggled and struggled to find earbuds that would stay in while I ran. I have small ears, so most ear buds pop out easily. Even the over-the-ear clip types don’t work for me, because the clips are too big for my ears.

I was reluctant to buy these, because they are relatively expensive. But I am so glad I did. They are worth every penny!

It is amazing how well the twist-to-fit function works. I NEVER feel like they are going to fall out, and they don’t. At the end of an hour run I sometimes have slight ear discomfort from the twist-to-fit mechanism. But it goes away within a minute or two. To me, that slight issue is far outweighed by how well these headphones work. Thank you for such an awesome product!!!

I have tried behind the head, over the head, around the ear, ear buds, etc… and these are by far THE BEST headphones for running. The sound quality isn’t Bose… but it isn’t bad either. For those of you that run you will understand… I run 6 miles at a time… and these do not move… I don’t have to adjust them… they stay put. I set the clip at the top of the cable at the “Y” where the earbuds split off and I attach that clip on my left side collar then I run the wire down the inside of my shirt. I use it with my ipod nano with a Speck Toughskin rugged rubber case and belt clip attached to the waistband of my running shorts and it’s the perfect set up!!!

I love sennheiser, they deliver quality sound with a great technology of the twist to fit. Ive owned the mx-75’s previously and loved them so it was a no brainer. I even had the rubber split near the jack and they send me a new pair no hassles. I even love the color and the way the left has a shorter chord than the right for easy use when trying to figure out which ear is which. You should get a SquareTrade warranty for them too. its a no brainer like $7 for three years. And they actually pay you for claims with out hassle. (which I haven’t had to claim on these yet, and I’ve had them for 6+ months. Nice peace of mind to have.

I have always had a problem with earbuds staying in my ear. Either they would fall out with the slightest movement (obviously not ideal for running or even just walking) or they would be so large that they would stay in but then my ears would throb in pain. Not with these!! These headphones are incredible! They stay put, they don’t hurt and the sound is great! I read quite a few reviews before making my purchase and they were very helpful. Some said they had a hard time adjusting them but I luckily have not had that problem. Others said the sound was no good, also no problems with that. When I first got them I was so excited to try them out that I put on my shoes and went for a jog. Typically, with my old headphones, as soon as I would walk out the door they would start falling out and every 5 seconds or so I had to attempt to fix them, only to have to do it another 5 seconds later. With these I was able to not only walk out the door but jog with no problems. I made it all the way home and didn’t have to adjust them once! I didn’t think that would ever be possible. I originally got these headphones in March and I waited to post my review until I’ve had them for awhile since some reviews mentioned problems with them breaking after a few months. I have had no problems at all and I HIGHLY recommend you buy them right now! Don’t hesitate for a second, your ears will thank you!

Great for the gym and I know I have to sacrifice sound to have a small, convenient, good fitting headphone, so I’m good with that.
