I’ve had these earphones for a couple of years now and was impressed with their performance to cost ratio. However, in the last couple of months, the plastic housing around the earbud has stripped away and causes the sound to cut in/out and be distorted. I am an avid electronics user and take excellent care of my purchases, especially those that are relatively expensive. Not sure why these have begun to crap out but I didn’t anticipate replacing them so quickly. It’s a shame because, as I said, the sound quality was very good before the product began to deteriorate.

    Would not recommend.

This is my second pair of Shure’s. They sound great for a few months, but eventually, the cord of the headphones gets frayed, the insulation comes off for about 2mm of the cord, and then the audio stops working completely. Very frustrating. I wish I could return these headphones, but I’m past the 2 month warranty.

I purchased these for plane trips to block out excessive noise. They work quite well and seem very durable. I listen primarily to books and have not tried them for music. They are also great for my work out at the gym by allowing me to hear an audio book in a very often noisy background.

These are usually around a $100, but I acquired mine through Amazon for the best low price.

The headphones themselves are great. I love these over my V-Modas.

For those that don’t realize how the product is built, it is actually 2 pieces. One part is the head phone which come together as normal headphones. They extend together into a male plug. You then need the accompanying extension cord to have any decent length. This is where the product fails.

This extension cord is too weak and frays easily. Extension cords under 6 ft are difficult, if not impossible, in a local market. You must head to the internet.

Too bad Shure messed this up since the headphones produce an amazing range of sound and clarity.

I’ve had my Shure e115’s for about a year.

I like the headphones a lot. They form a nice tight seal inside the ear that keeps subway noise out and my music and podcasts in. The headphones are awesome and everything sounds wonderful through them.

Now the real reason I’m writing the review is to praise Shure for having a great warranty policy. It’s my understanding that all headphones have a two year warranty on them. After a year of solid use, the right ear started to fuzz out in static and ended up conking out. I found the warranty information on the Shure website, sent them the headphones with a warranty slip filled out, and in less than three days had a brand new pair delivered to my door!! THAT is what I call excellent customer service!!

Shure are the industry standard for earbuds for a reason…the sound is amazing…and now I’m realizing that they are just plain awesome when it comes to making sure their customers are satisfied. KUDOS!!

After looking around for good pair of ear phones and researching quite a bit I decided upon Shure SE 115s for a quite number reasons like performance, price, build and brand reputation and I am quite happy I made the purchase, it meets or exceeds my expectations in almost all of the areas. I urge every one who listens to music at least once in a while not just audiophiles to upgrade from what I understand earphones that come with MP3 players or other portable audio devices which cost not more than a few cents. Top reason being the audio electronics that make up these devices might be state of the art but ultimately the sound one hears will come out from those earphones. Shure SE 115 fits perfectly in the beginning range of those, first the performance is outstanding specially the highs it took a few days for me to adjust to the fact that there was nothing unusual around and I was listening to very low highs that I never heard before in my favorite tracks. The sound isolating foam Sleeves are phenomenal which shields most ambient external sounds in noisy environments like gym or even a plane in my view these add to the great sound quality produced by dynamic drivers by having a double effect of letting you listen to great music and not noise. One of the ironies of great sounding earphones has always been bad quality of wires from the 3.5 mm plug to the drivers which are usually thin and snap off easily after a few months of regular use, Shure addressed this problem by giving a sturdy build and thick wires and this added with two years warranty I believe this will last many years to come. The tiny bag it comes in is great to carry around and for protection. Coming to the cons Shure’s earlier model SE 110 was down reviewed by many for being too bad on bass or lows so they redesigned, revamped and SE 115 was the answer, and this was one of the other main reason I bought these. I certainly do hear decent lows and bass but sure it’s not up to the hip-hop/ rap fans mark. The thick wires some times feel heavy specially while using in fitness settings. After using these for a while, I am quite happy about the purchase and would strongly recommend this if you are looking for a great sounding, well build headphones at a reasonable price as long as you are not expecting amazing bass.

I had Shure E2Cs that I loved but the wire broke on one side. I figured, same brand same price range – can’t go wrong. WRONG. The cable is separated into a flimsy cord (separated by earbud) and then a connection to another 3′ cord. Connecting the 12″ (yes that small) cord to the iPod worked well but as soon as I connected the extension, only one earbud worked. When they work, the sound is not bad, although the E2Cs were better. Did I mention the flimsy cords to the earbuds….why mess with a good thing Shure? They were returned.

These headphones sound good and they are efficient. However, I really got them for their sound insulating properties after my noise canceling buds died. They are, in my judgment, only so-so at blocking ambient sound even after messing around with the various tips. They sound a lot better (classical, acoustic music mainly) than the the noise canceling set I had but with less bass and less acoustic insulation.

They are very comfortable and effectively block out noisy co-workers without having to have the volume at an excessive level. The only possible shortcoming is that they buzz if I change the treble/bass settings on my PC. According to a knowledgable co-worked I talked with about this, it’s not an uncommon issue when using earphones with PC’s.

This is my second set from this company. You get what you paid for and the return policy is great if you have any problems.

Ear buds are good so far.I am hoping they’ll last be a very long time. All the other previous brand head phones one ear piece had no sound.I am hoping this pair will be different. There’s a thick cord which is good so it protects the wires. Sound is awesome.

I got these because I was sick of cheap earbuds with wimpy cords. Initially, I got some V moda vibes (for nearly the same price) and they were just as bad as all the cheap pairs (little to no bass, thin cord, etc.). These fit me great with the standard covers and block out a ton of noise. Also, the music quality is fantastic. If these ever break, I will definitely get another pair of Shures.

I just purchased these Shure headphones as a replacement to the standard iphone ones. I was seeking good passive noise reduction. With the foam ear-pieces, these are much like wearing regular ear plugs. I found them to be reasonably comfortable and highly effective at eliminating outside noise. I walked down a street in Manhattan and was able to hear my call clearly. However, all of the callers I spoke with complained about the microphone – static, amplied ambient noise, breaking up. Unfortunately I’m now returning it and will need to find a new solution…

I bought this when my $30 Sony ear buds broke. I have mild hearing impairment and wanted something that gave better comfort and more volume. These ear buds allow me to hear much better volume without distortion (to my ears). The volume adjustment for me is one to two notches less on my Itouch. I am very pleased with these ear buds. The sound isolation seems good to my less that normal hearing.

Sound is good… the foam ear buds fit nicely… chord is too long and the connection heavy so it swings around too much when I’m at the gym. The microphone sucks. I can’t use it with my Blackberry because no one can hear me and that’s the main reason I purchased these was to have a dual functioning headset.

I read all the reviews and it seem like a good purchase. I was uncomfortable with the way the buds sat in my ears. They kept falling out, or felt too hot. Some of the reviewers said that one need only to get use to adjusting the fit, but I never did–it’s too much trouble.

I guess these might suit you for listening to AM radio. But the sound quality for music is very poor. I’m not a musician or anything, but I know my regular 20 year old headphones sound a million times than these Shure earbuds. These earbuds have kind of an airy sound to them, like you are listening thru a tube. I don’t know if this unit is a dud, but I really don’t understand how people are giving these good ratings for sound quality. To me, they aren’t just average sound quality, they are actually poor sound quality, as in they make a wide variety songs sound not so good.

When I followed Shure’s sketchy instructions that came with the SE115 headphones and inserted them into my ears, I imagined a couple of not-yet-ripe olives from a tree, forcing them into my ears and leaving them there for an hour. The Shure SE115 earphones are not olives but still uncomfortable, at least for me. I tried different sizes of earplugs that come with the SE115s but no luck. Regardless of how I adjusted the SE115s in my ears, they sounded tinny, with no bass. My experience in trying to use the Shure 115SEs is that they are not for everyone. If you are considering them, press your fingers firmly in your ears, if no olives are handy, to determine if that feels comfortable … then decide.

As my title suggests, I love the sound from these headphones, but after trying all of the provided earpieces right side up and upside down, I couldn’t get them to stay comfortably in my ears while walking around. Luckily, I had my old, broken Etymotics lying around. I popped the flanged earpieces from the old headphones on to my new ones and never looked back. I might have weird ears, though. I’ve just always preferred flanged earpieces in situations like this. Overall, a great pair of headphones with durable-feeling cords and connections and great sound response.

In order to block wind noise in my helmet while riding my motorcyle so I can hear my GPS give directions, I mated this set of earphones to the silicone flanged tips. Works just like my safety ear plugs.
