Skullcandy INK’d Earbuds S2INCZ-034 (Black/Red)

Overall rating:

Ink adds permanence. It forces the visual representation of an idea, concept, ideal or experience, and tangibly commemorates it. Like a tattoo, graffiti, or stretch marks. Until you’re really ready to commit, go with the INK’D ear buds. Big sound, little price, no visible scarring.

I didn’t find these headphones comfortable at all. They enclosed my ear canal in a way that it caused a lot of pressure in my head… they were NOT comfortable to wear. The sound quality was average- not the worst and not the best. I do not recommend these headphones.

I don’t like spending a lot of money on earbuds or headphones. Most of the time they don’t deliver the goods when it comes to sound. I need to not only hear what is supposed to be “bass”, I need to feel it to really enjoy all of my music; and Skull Candy delivers.

They are so good that I don’t need to go beyond 50% volume in order to hear my music at a high level. They block out just about all other sound when in use, so don’t use them while doing anything that requires you to be alert. Just like using ear plugs, when there is no music playing, you hear your own breath and every other bit of motion that may move or graze the wires connected to the buds, so don’t use them for working out unless you can somehow keep the wires from bouncing around. Inline skating is not recommended unless you are in a safe area (no cars) and a very flat surface (bumping from uneven ground is quite audible).

I use them mostly at work while at my desk or filing paperwork, and it is like all that exists is my work and the music (it makes the rest of the office noise and coworker chatter really disappear). The same goes for obnoxiously noisy train rides. All of the other people and distracting sound just goes away. It’s just you and your music. They are the best buds I’ve ever owned so far, and the price makes it inexpensive to replace them if for some reason they do break or stop working. I love this product.

    Thank you Skull Candy!!

They last for about 4 months. I keep buying them because they are really cheap on amazon and really like the sound quality. I love everything about them except that they only last 4 months…

These earbuds from Skullcandy are GREAT! I use them everyday with my MP3 player when exercising & I think they are fantastic. The sound is almost as good as the headphones I use at home & the 3 different sized ear cushions ensure a great fit. I recommend these.

My ears a smaller than the average ear so most earplugs hurt my ears or just didn’t fit in. These fit my ears perfectly and for people who like their headphones louds, these were it. Only flaw is there aren’t good for constant moving like when you are at a gym. Other than that I reccommend them

Had these ear buds before and I loved them, but I accidently stepped on one and broke it, so I needed replacements. These are just like the ones I bought in the store, only for a better price. Love the comfort, love the sound, and for exercise these are the best ear buds out there, because they stay in your ear!!

The Earbuds I purchased are very stylish and comfortable. The adjustable sizes is very unique and cool. The sound quality is like nothing i have ever heard before. I use them for my i pod and my laptop and they’re amazing

Skullcandy earbuds are the best earbuds I’ve ever had. Sound quality is great and the fit is pretty good too, they don’t fall out like some other earbuds I’ve had.

The bass is deep and nice. the only problem was that the earbuds aren’t the black/black ones they are the silver/black ones .

    Hello,

This would be a 5 star review but the color is off on the item. Instead of getting red and black it is really a red and silver color kind of black but not what the pictures show.

just bought these today after my senheiser cx 300 II died recently.

First of all can I say could people PLEASE stop whining about noise being transmitted through the cords to your ears, this is the same principle as a tin can connected with a taught piece of string, it is not the earbuds fault!

Appearance wise these buds look pretty cheap and flimsy compared with the Senheisers. The cord looks rather ‘old school’, and not the silicone type material I’m used to. I’m not sure they will last that long, although the Senheisers only lasted 9 months and they cost about twice as much, so who knows…

People complaining about poor bass performance have either destroyed their hearing already with ‘bass heavy’ phones in the past, or they have not got a good tight seal in their ear. I actually replaced the gel things it came with, with the ones from my Senheisers, as they fit my ears perfectly, thus improving the bass response no end.

Tonally these buds can be a little harsh when turned up really loud, but at normal to quite loud volumes they are fine, with tight bass, transparent mid range and crisp highs. I must say that dynamically these are better than the Senheisers, which were too bass heavy, and lacked clarity in the high end.

These buds are pretty cheap, so I can’t complain too much about the poor build quality, apart from this draw back they are a worthy replacement for my previous phones, I just hope they last longer!

I will admit that the number one reason why I even looked at these is because they are so cute. What made me buy them is the fact that they come with different sized ear pieces. Traditional ear buds will not fit in my ear because they are too big. I put the smallest size ear piece in and these fit right in and stay in. I think they sound just fine. I also love the fact that the “wire” is wrapped in some kind of nylon. I have a problem with traditional plastic wrapped wires getting cut or separating as I like to throw ear buds in my purse and some times they get caught on my keys. These do not do that. I have a lot of songs with bass and I have not had any issues. Of course they are not going to sound like a BOSE quality headphone, they are $18 people!

I really like the way the earbuds fit and stay in your ear. Very comfortable.

I bought these for about $18 at Target. They blocked sound well enough. Though, I noticed that after a while, and after taking them out, my ears hurt a little. The volume and bass were okay, though some songs did seem a little muffled or something. So the headphones were decent despite giving me the occasional earache.

However, I bought these sometime in April, 2010. Late July the left ear bud stopped working unless I twisted the wire further damaging the product. A couple weeks later they stopped working altogether! That is around 4 MONTHS. I had previous headphones that took a worse beating and lasted for 2 years or so, and that was with a CVS or Wal-Mart brand tape or cd player that was $5!

These things are covered by a limited lifetime warranty, but you have to pay shipping to send it back to skullcandy. They replace the buds or something and ship it back to you, whoever knows how long that would take. After the ear problems and the disappointment in the life of these I’m just going to take it as $18 down the drain.

I didn’t know what people ever meant when they said headphones were tinny. Now I know what it means. The sound is tinny as hell. Not good with bass. And the earbuds always feel like they’ll slip out. Just get ipod headphones.

I just bought these headphones a couple of days ago and for the most part I am satisfied with it. The sound is clear and it really reflects any sound from the outside world. Once you put those headphones in then you an forget about anything else but your music. One concern is that the wire is too thin. The wire at the top (below the headphones) is extremely thin. When I handle them I have to be careful because I’m afraid they will rip off. I know these headphone probably wont last long. But skullcandy does offer a warranty which covers the headphones if they break. I cannot recommend these headphones because although the sound is great, it will not last long.

Hi, i’ve been using skull candy now for about two years. I go through about a dozen in a year. Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s the product, but i will tell you this, though the sound quality on the cheapest version of ear buds suffers, they have lasted me the longest. if i am going to continue using skull candy, i think i’ll err on the side of sturdiness over quality. Otherwise it just becomes WAY too expensive.

My use profile: I use headphones/ear buds with my ipod for hours every, every day. I go through a lot of headphones- usually my buds conk out with a wire problem that causes failure in one or both ears. I’ve had $60 Philips ear buds drop out on me after about 6 months or so- I got them replaced under warranty and it happened again. So I figured if I was going to replace my ear buds that often, I might as well get cheaper ones.

Skullcandy Ink’d are firmly in the lowest pricing tier for headphones. They look awesome, but obviously the sound quality is not going to be as good as it is with a $100 set of ear buds or headphones. However, the sound they put out is solid, reasonable quality, enough to satisfy your regular old music listener. I’ve never had the problems some other reviewers mention of tinniness or crackling. You don’t have any noise canceling features, but the fact that the soft, flexible cups block most of the entrance to your ear canal means that your average traffic/crowd/road noise ends up getting blocked out anyway. The buds are packaged with three sizes of the soft “cups” to make them adjustable for different size ears. Unlike some other brands I’ve tried, I’ve never had a problem with with the cups for these popping off- they stay put unless you’re actively trying to remove them.

Finally, what can you expect from these in terms of life? As I said above, I tend to run through ear buds. I’ve been using Ink’d for a couple years, and each pair typically lasts about 6 months for me. Your mileage may vary, if you use and abuse yours less (or more) often. Unless you’re looking for a very high end, expensive piece of headphone technology, Ink’d ear buds are a good bet: in my opinion they are a solid mid-range product at a very low price.

I bought these as a cheap stop-gap solution because my last pair’s connector (Ultimate Ears) developed a fault – after just over a year. I find that more acceptable than these, which also developed a fault. After 2 months. My headphones lead a hard life, it’s true, and my expectations for durability are low. But 2 months?

Get what you pay for I guess – they are cheap.

The sound is decent thought a bit strange in the high end. The comfort is poor; the gaskets are very thin rubber and there is no end to the amount of fussing and re-arranging I have to do to get them to feel and sound correct – each and every time.

Like I said, they will be OK if you need a cheap quick pair of earphones. But don’t expect much else.

These are very cool-looking, seem to be well put together, and are very comfortable–and I usually don’t like ear-bud style headphones at all because they sometimes hurt my ears. However, anyone who thinks these sound great needs to have their ears checked–or maybe they’ve never heard a decent pair of headphones. Tinny, sharp highs, weedy midrange, and absolutely no bass whatsoever. I’m disappointed to the point that these are going straight in the trash. If you’re rally into retro, and want all your music to sound like 1920’s radio, these are the ones for you. Otherwise, skip it.
