Skullcandy INK’d Earbuds S2INCZ-058 (Rasta)

Overall rating:

Ink adds permanence. It forces the visual representation of an idea, concept, ideal or experience, and tangibly commemorates it. Like a tattoo, graffiti, or stretch marks. Until you’re really ready to commit, go with the INK’D ear buds. Big sound, little price, no visible scarring.

They got here on time and they worked so I can’t complain though the sound wasn’t 100% great but after a few days of use they sound better. Not my favorite color though.

As with most earphones… it is all about positioning. This one sounds good if the earpiece covers the inner ear… otherwise the bass will be low and sound quality not as full.

As a former musician and piano tuner, I think I know sound quality, and I have to say I really like these earbuds The full bass response, and crisp treble make them sound like my $100.00 Bose buds.I really like the way they fit inside my ear canal blocking outside noises. If you want to hear your favorite tunes in their pure form then these buds are for you, unless you want to spend more money on pair of Bose.

I have gone with Skullcandy earphones ever since they came out,

now these earbuds are like full size amplified car stereos in your ears.

I highly recommend these for casual listening, and everything else..the construction of these earbuds are like no other

For high bass music there is no fluttering or distortion.

I personally think these are the best earbuds around!

    10 out of 10

totally worth giving them a shot!

Solid earbuds that deliver satisfactory sound with a good amount of noise canceling. The noise cancellation is a plus, as my roommate listens to really awful music. They deliver an okay amount of bass, and otherwise deliver above average sound for inexpensive earbuds. They aren’t groundshakingly amazing, but they’re comfortable, produce good sound, and keep out bad sound (seriously his music is really, really awful) for a very reasonable price.

The one con is that moving the wire causes noise, which can get annoying. It’s easily solved by running the wire under a shirt (or not moving), but that may not be acceptable to some.

Ive gone through two pairs of the skull candy Ink’d. The first one lastes about 2 month until one of the earbuds broke. So i returned it with the warranty (6$ to ship). I received my new pair, the only difference is that the second pair only lasted 29 days until one of the buds busted again.

-didn’t even mention then 2 month shipping :(

I wanted to pick up some extra back up buds to carry in my truck so I dropped into a local store and checked out their wares. The SkullCandy looked cool and after I checked out the Amazon reviews on my phone (he he what a great toy) I decided to try these SkullCandy buds.

    What a Letdown!

The sound was terrible. The upper and lower ranges of music were almost muffled. It was tinny. It almost sounded like one of those old timey 1950’s transistor radios. They’re ok if you’re listening to spoken word type podcasts but for music they are a real bust. I couldn’t stand to listen o my favorite music butchered by these things. And the buds themselves are too big and hurt my ears. And I’m a big guy with correspondingly big ears holes!

Give these a pass. If you’re really interested in SkullCandy take a Snickers bar and ram it up your nose. It’s cheaper and less painful.

I have been using the Skullcandy Ink’d Buds for about a year and a half now, mostly because I like the sound quality offered by the headphones while still within the affordable range for someone who doesn’t have much if any money to spend. I must say that I greatly enjoy these headphones.

Sound Quality: The sound quality on these headphones is extremely good for being less than $20 in most cases. I am particularly sensitive to picking up nuances in songs due to musical training in my youth and these headphones allow me to do that. In fact because I’ve gotten so used to the quality afforded by these headphones I find it hard to use cheaper headphones now.

Comfort: I find the silicone tips on these quiet comfortable and I can usually have them in for most of the day without much irritation. They do have a tendency to slip out a bit easy which may just be me being between the medium and small sizes of the three sizes of tips included. The cord is also extremely long which is god for tall people but not people like me who are only a few inches above five feet, which leads to unexpectedly having the headphones dragging along the ground or getting caught on something like a corner or a bush. Also do pay attention to which headphone your putting in your ear. They technically do have a L-R configuration and putting the wrong one in can affect comfort and sound quality.

Quality of Materials: Here is my biggest bone to pick with these headphones. They have a short lifespan. Due to them being a straight jack they tend to lose sound in one ear bud quite easily, especially if you’re used to rolling up your headphones around you mp3 player. I have had this happen as soon as three weeks and one time it didn’t happen for 3 months. Also the silicone tips can come off when putting into a pocket and then you are left essentially without a working (or comfortable) ear bud. If skullcandy just redesigned the jack though then there would be little not to like about these headphones.

First, if you bought these and can’t find the “R” and “L” markings, look very, very closely on the flex connector to the earbuds and you’ll see the marking in tiny, tiny embossing. You will probably want to put a black dot on the top or side of one of these buds to quickly tell them apart, because the factory markings are darn near invisible and I had to Google to find a thread with the markings location.

I’m not an audiophile, but I am kind of a “purist” or “minimalist” – which is to say I like speakers to be neutral (no sloppy bass or artificially boosted trebles) and I play my music with all the tone controls flat. I assume that’s how the recording studio engineers monitored it and so that’s the way I want to listen to it – if the engineers had wanted more bass, they would have put it into the actual soundtrack (but I’m all in favor of accurate tweeters to bring out all of the treble, and subwoofers to bring out all of the actual bass).

These inexpensive Ink’d earphones have a nice sound. Which is to say, I quickly stopped trying to hear the specific characteristics of these earphones and started enjoying the music itself.

Compared to the $9.95 Jbuds JBuds Hi-Fi Noise-Reducing Ear Buds (Black) these sound “clearer” and more “detailed.” The inexpensive Jbuds sound muted in comparison, at comparable listening levels (subjective listening levels, not volume control setting). I also have the more expensive Jbuds with the inline microphone JBuds J3M Micro Atomic In-Ear Earphones with Microphone (Jet Black, iPhone Compatible) which sound a lot better than the $9.95 Jbuds, but not qualitatively better than the Ink’d. Finally, all of these are much better than the Apple earphones, for the simple reason that the quality of sound is SO much better when the ear canal is completely blocked off by a silicone surround earpiece. The sound is MUCH tighter and more solid, and not just in the bass range, which is where you would expect it to sound better. The one disadvantage of snug fit style earphones is that even at moderate listening levels, it’s hard to hear people trying to talk to you. Great for late night or airplane listening, not so great for biking or walking.

If this is going to be your first set of “post factory” earphones I highly recommend these Ink’d for the following reasons:

    1. Come with snug soft fit silicone ear pieces. Essential for good audio, very helpful for noisy airplane cabins.

    2. Come with two additional sizes of silicone ear pieces – essential for getting the right fit, and the right fit is essential for sound quality.

    3. Look quality, nice logo, gold plated connector.

    4. Much better quality than stock earphones, “good enough” for enjoying your favorite songs, not so expensive you have to think twice about them.

    5. Ink’d has a good reputation and is a volume producer – the odds are you’ll get similar performance whether you buy now or later. They also seem committed to predictable model names and price points. Some makers, like Philips, use odd model designations that are harder to track and compare.

    6. Adjustable “yoke” length (the split “Y”) via a slider.

    Negatives:

    A. Cord is way too long. But I recycled the twist tie that came with them to coil up a part of the cord.

    B. Some cord “rustle” (you can hear the cords slide over zippers and make other noises on almost all models to varying degrees of annoyance). These aren’t bad.

Skull Candies have good sound quality and are durable. The only thing i dont like about this product is the chord is loud. Any chord movment echoes and amplifies in your ear.

These earbuds from Skullcandy are GREAT! I use them everyday with my MP3 player when exercising & I think they are fantastic. The sound is almost as good as the headphones I use at home & the 3 different sized ear cushions ensure a great fit. I recommend these.

My ears a smaller than the average ear so most earplugs hurt my ears or just didn’t fit in. These fit my ears perfectly and for people who like their headphones louds, these were it. Only flaw is there aren’t good for constant moving like when you are at a gym. Other than that I reccommend them

They last for about 4 months. I keep buying them because they are really cheap on amazon and really like the sound quality. I love everything about them except that they only last 4 months…

I don’t like spending a lot of money on earbuds or headphones. Most of the time they don’t deliver the goods when it comes to sound. I need to not only hear what is supposed to be “bass”, I need to feel it to really enjoy all of my music; and Skull Candy delivers.

They are so good that I don’t need to go beyond 50% volume in order to hear my music at a high level. They block out just about all other sound when in use, so don’t use them while doing anything that requires you to be alert. Just like using ear plugs, when there is no music playing, you hear your own breath and every other bit of motion that may move or graze the wires connected to the buds, so don’t use them for working out unless you can somehow keep the wires from bouncing around. Inline skating is not recommended unless you are in a safe area (no cars) and a very flat surface (bumping from uneven ground is quite audible).

I use them mostly at work while at my desk or filing paperwork, and it is like all that exists is my work and the music (it makes the rest of the office noise and coworker chatter really disappear). The same goes for obnoxiously noisy train rides. All of the other people and distracting sound just goes away. It’s just you and your music. They are the best buds I’ve ever owned so far, and the price makes it inexpensive to replace them if for some reason they do break or stop working. I love this product.

    Thank you Skull Candy!!

I didn’t find these headphones comfortable at all. They enclosed my ear canal in a way that it caused a lot of pressure in my head… they were NOT comfortable to wear. The sound quality was average- not the worst and not the best. I do not recommend these headphones.

  16. by Chase

Had these ear buds before and I loved them, but I accidently stepped on one and broke it, so I needed replacements. These are just like the ones I bought in the store, only for a better price. Love the comfort, love the sound, and for exercise these are the best ear buds out there, because they stay in your ear!!

The Earbuds I purchased are very stylish and comfortable. The adjustable sizes is very unique and cool. The sound quality is like nothing i have ever heard before. I use them for my i pod and my laptop and they’re amazing

Skullcandy earbuds are the best earbuds I’ve ever had. Sound quality is great and the fit is pretty good too, they don’t fall out like some other earbuds I’ve had.

The bass is deep and nice. the only problem was that the earbuds aren’t the black/black ones they are the silver/black ones .

    Hello,

This would be a 5 star review but the color is off on the item. Instead of getting red and black it is really a red and silver color kind of black but not what the pictures show.
